McKinney, TX – February 22, 2024 – Segway Powersports made a splash at AIMExpo in Las Vegas, showcasing groundbreaking innovation that left enthusiasts and industry insiders buzzing with excitement, including the introduction of the industry’s first hybrid powertrain for side-by-sides. As proof of the excitement, Segway secured applications for 31 new dealers during the powersports industry’s premier event this month.

The Super Villain, housing a hybrid powertrain that boasts an impressive 330 horsepower, shows that Segway has once again raised the bar for performance and innovative engineering. This milestone not only establishes Segway as a leader in the powersports industry, it also highlights its dedication to pushing boundaries and redefining industry standards.

In addition to the awe-inspiring Super Villain, Segway captivated attendees with its new line of e-bikes, featuring the Xyber and Xafari models. These sleek and innovative electric bicycles garnered significant attention, further solidifying Segway’s reputation as a pioneer in sustainable mobility solutions.

Why did we decide to exhibit?

We have a group of throttle jockeys, who were more excited to be at AIMExpo than a toddler in a candy store. Some have only started riding a couple years ago (me) while others have been riding for decades, but they’re united in their ecstasy at the opportunity to operate where work and passions collide.

We’re excited to bring the depth and breadth from the world’s largest sealing companies in Freudenberg and NOK. We don’t just manufacture and sell; we ride, we listen, and we solve problems.

What did we do?

While we’re seasoned veterans exhibiting at other tradeshows like AAPEX, Powertrain Expo, and HDAW, we knew AIMExpo was going to be a different kind of show…in a good way. We waffled back and forth between a 10 by 10 and a 10 by 20 booth, ultimately making the incorrect choice of going small.

How was the show?

You will have high quality, passionate conversations no matter the audience. The rider community absolutely translates to the business aspect, and it was gratifying to see. Whether we were talking to dealers, content creators, fellow vendors, or anyone else, the conversation always yielded something positive and fruitful.

All this despite an evacuation in the middle of the show due to a minor fire. Those who were quick on their feet made their way to the Renaissance quickly for refreshments before returning for more good conversations, the E-bike throwdown, and the industry party.

Why are you talking about shopping?

Despite the recent growth the show is experiencing, AIMExpo is much smaller than its automobile counterparts like AAPEX. That means you can walk the show in a day and get some personal shopping done like Patrick said in the last episode of 2 Wheels 2 Ways.

I was personally excited to talk to the folks at Click’n’ride and Tuff Jugs. Track days can take a lot out of you and anything that makes life easier is always welcome.

As a newer rider who’s gone from MSF to track days in the blink of an eye, I’m always looking to get more people on 2 wheels. My big problem is no one is touching my 2020 Aprilia Tuono V4 Misano. There’s too much power for the new rider and it’s my baby!

But, I have a Ninja 400 that let’s say is very well broken in. Great for teaching others how to ride, which I’m happy to do! Only caveat is it’s set up for the track and converting it back for the street is a pain in the ass. This is where Click’n’ride’s quick release turn signals are a god send. I can’t wait to get my hands on these. I hope one day to find similar solutions for mirrors, license plates, and brake lights.

The tried-and-true VP Racing Fuel jugs dominate for good reason, but Tuff Jugs will make track riders’ days a lot easier with its fuel dispensing technology. I see people struggle with fueling up bikes all the time. A solution that is quicker AND cleaner? Yes, please.

Seeing upcoming helmets from Arai and KYT was also a huge bonus. These designs are so fresh, some of them are hand painted!

Lessons learned?

Lessons abound from what can otherwise be called a successful show and great experience.

1. Slap some air tags or tiles in anything you are shipping to the show. Our main shipment didn’t arrive until the day of the show. Using this tech would have made it much easier to hunt down our stuff.

2. Go big. Empty space isn’t a bad thing. It invites attendees to walk through your space. Plus, it’s easier to fill a larger space than step over yourselves in a small space. The cost difference is reasonable.

3. The monorail is not reliable. The Renaissance is next door to the show floor. Do the math. The added cost is worth the convenience of being able to walk back and forth in minutes. The Sahara and Westgate aren’t on the strip either, where most will go for good times.

4. Giveaways & prizes. Remember, a lot of attendees fly in and don’t have a ton of room for larger items. We had some really cool t-shirts and some other vendors did too. They can’t take everything home!

AIMExpo 2025 Returns to Las Vegas

IRVINE, Calif., May 14, 2024 – The Motorcycle Industry Council’s American International Motorcycle Expo is ready to rock the Las Vegas Convention Center again on February 5-7, 2025, for what is shaping up to be the third consecutive year of a record-breaking show. More than 100 exhibitors are already committed—over twice the number at the same time last year.

“This is the most innovative and thrilling time in powersports history, and we can’t wait to share that excitement at North America’s biggest powersports show,” said Cinnamon Kernes, Vice President of Market Expansion and Events at the Motorcycle Industry Council. “With AIMExpo 2025, we’re ready to give our exhibitors and guests an experience they’ll never forget.”

AIMExpo 2025 is already on track to be the biggest show yet, with OEMs out in full force. Suzuki, Kawasaki, Triumph, Moto Morini, and Segway will be on-hand to give attendees an up-close look at their newest lineups, and many more OEM partners will be announced. IRVINE, Calif., February 29, 2024 — The powersports industry did not hold back at AIMExpo’s 10th anniversary event in Las Vegas, with more dealer attendees, more exhibitors, more new products, more education, more racing, more excitement, and already a record number of exhibitor renewals and OEM commitments for 2025.

“The numbers speak for themselves,” said Erik Pritchard, president and CEO of the Motorcycle Industry Council. “We’re seeing all-time interest in dealer participation since our strategic decision to focus on the industry and go trade-only with the show. And this year, we put onour best show yet — a direct result of the hard work, dedication, and tenacity of our team.”

“We attribute the strong dealer interest to more OEMs and major distributors on the show floor, plus an increase among aftermarket and service providers participating in AIMExpo,” said Cinnamon Kernes, MIC vice president of market expansion and events. “On just the first day alone, we connected media with more than 10 OEMs launching new products. Add to that the increased networking opportunities including the Industry Party powered by Turn 14 Distribution, two morning breakfast sessions sponsored by S&P Global, and the Dealer Tech Zone powered by Transax Digital Retail. You could feel the high level of energy on our show floor.”

The show kicked off with a media tour of new products and models presented by participating OEMs, including Moto Morini, which unveiled three new motorcycles at AIMExpo — the 2025 X-Cape 1200 adventure bike, the Corsaro Sport, and its custom cruiser, the Calibro.

Suzuki spotlighted its new GSX-S1000GX+ and the GSX-8R, and gave special mention to its 25th anniversary Hayabusa. Yamaha featured its electric three-wheel concept vehicle, the TRICERA; its 2024 YZ450F 50th Anniversary Motocross Bike; and several e-bikes, including the 30th Anniversary YDX-MORO 07. Piaggio brought out models from its family of brands, including Vespa, Aprilia, and Moto Guzzi. Among bikes they highlighted were the new Aprilia RSV4 Factory 1100 and the Moto Guzzi Stelvio adventure tourer.

Down the hall, CFMOTO featured two-wheelers and four-wheelers, including the 2024 Ibex 450 midrange ADV bike, the 450CL-C cruiser, the CFORCE 1000 Touring ATV, and the ZFORCE 950 Sport 4 side-by-side. KTM, Husqvarna, GASGAS, and MV Agusta presented many new models to media, including the new KTM 1390 Super Duke R Evo, KTM 890 SMT, the Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition, GASGAS ES 500 dual-sport, the MV Agusta Rush hyper-naked. Felt displayed several new performance bicycles. Rounding out the tour was first-time AIMExpo exhibitor Segway, showcasing its Super Villain side-by-side, the first in the industry with a hybrid powertrain, and a new line of e-bikes — the Xyber and Xafari models.

Not on the media tour but still attracting attention were Kawasaki, with its new Ninja 7 Hybrid ABS and its all-electric Ninja e-1 ABS; Polaris, which debuted the XPEDITION “adventure side-by-side” lineup; and Triumph, which displayed its TF 250-X motocross bike.

AIMExpo’s New Product Central was also abuzz with 32 brands featuring innovative new products. Several electric-bike manufacturers also presented on the New Product Central stage, including Arctic Leopard USA, Denago Powersports, Greenger Powersports, JackRabbit Mobility, NIU, Rawrr eMoto, and Ryvid.

Also new this year was a collaboration with Sturgis Buffalo Chip, which brought a new level of excitement to the 2 Wheel Custom Showcase. Rod “Woody” Woodruff, president and CEO of the Legendary Sturgis Buffalo Chip, was on hand to award custom builder Mike Rabideau winner of the Spirit of the Chip trophy for his build.

“Everyone we spoke to not only made some great connections for business, they also had an amazing time,” Kernes said. “We’re excited about the industry enthusiasm for AIMExpo 2025. And we’re looking forward to continuing to evolve the experience even more.”

AIMExpo will return to Las Vegas February 5-7, 2025.
